Easter is just around the corner and planning for the holiday is in full swing.

Lower Saxony offers surprising excursion destinations - there are also unusual places.

Hanover – Finally a few days off, finally Easter.

This year, too, many families will use the time around the holidays to go on a spontaneous or planned short vacation.

Day trips are also popular over Easter, but there is usually too little time.

The state of Lower Saxony has surprising destinations for all travelers that are perfect for such a short trip.

There are also unusual places that invite you to visit.

Would you like an example?

In the Aurich district, more precisely in Suurhusen, you can see one of the crooked towers in the world.

This refers to the town's church tower.

With a tilt of 5.19 degrees, it managed to surpass the Leaning Tower of Pisa - and thus made it into the Guinness Book of Records in 2007.

Lower Saxony at Easter: Surprising travel destinations for short vacationers

For the adventurous Easter holidaymakers, perhaps crossing the narrowest car bridge in Europe would be something.

The Leda Bridge is located just a few hundred meters from the town of Leer in East Frisia, near Amdorf.

And with its roadway width of just 1.80 meters, it represents a challenge for drivers' driving skills. Although the single-lane bridge, which is around 2.50 meters wide, is regulated by a traffic light system, dangerous situations are only possible on the 1st lane .80 meter wide road is not uncommon.

Where to go for Easter?

Many families are currently asking themselves this question.

There are some suitable places in Lower Saxony for a short trip.

Cyclists who have already crossed the bridge unscathed describe it in online review portals as an “absolute danger to their lives” if they do not strictly adhere to traffic rules.

The traffic lights are there for a reason, as it is not possible for vehicles to turn or turn around on the bridge.

Potential Easter thrills guaranteed.

Short trips in Lower Saxony: Unusual excursion destinations in the north

If you prefer to go to the mountains, you might get your money's worth at the highest observation tower in Germany.

The “Harz Tower” is located in the Goslar district in Lower Saxony and rises 65 meters high.

The construction of the tower cost around ten million euros.

The project was supported by the state of Lower Saxony and the federal government with around 1.4 million euros.

The tower's two viewing platforms not only offer a panoramic view of the Harz and the Brocken, but also a unique view downwards through a skywalk with a glass floor.

Although the Harz Tower is not yet completely finished, tours to the top of the tower are already being offered.

But Easter holidaymakers can also get a taste of mountain air on the North Sea.

The highest lighthouse in Germany is located on the East Frisian island of Wangerooge.

With a height of 67.2 meters, it has been the top beacon since it was commissioned in 1969.

The tower is not open to the public, but it is definitely a destination for excursions at Easter.
