His run lasted 10 days.

Xavier P., the police officer who escaped from a hospital on March 8 and was the subject of an arrest warrant, was arrested early this Monday, March 18 in Itteville (Essonne).

The man was apprehended by police officers from the Juvisy-sur-Orge police station.

Information confirmed by the public prosecutor of Évry-Courcouronnes.

As required by procedure, the 45-year-old man must be brought before an investigating judge at the Évry court, with a view to being indicted for “violence against a spouse”.

The prosecution requested his placement in pre-trial detention.

Escaped from police custody

Xavier P. was placed in police custody in Juvisy after a complaint filed by his partner, for acts of violence committed on the evening of March 3.

The suspect then asserted his right to see a doctor who, after examination, judged his condition to be incompatible with the police custody regime, which resulted in his hospitalization.

But on Friday March 8, the police officer finally slipped away from his hospital room, where he was being monitored by medical staff.

Since then, he has been the subject of an arrest warrant.

His report was relayed to all police and gendarmerie services in Île-de-France.

The anguish of the victims

Above all, his escape had aroused outcry and anguish among three of his former companions.

In September 2023, the forty-year-old appeared before the Essonne Assize Court for acts of rape, violence and sexual assault against three women he had dated.

Two others had also testified against him at trial, without having filed a complaint.

At the end of the proceedings, Xavier P. was sentenced to ten years of criminal imprisonment.

He immediately decided to appeal, suggesting a new trial to come.

Ten years of imprisonment and relief for the victims?

Not really.

Two months after his incarceration, the investigating chamber of the Versailles Court of Appeal accepted, in November, Xavier P.'s request for release, to everyone's surprise.

Justice thus ruled that he did not represent a danger to society.

Since then, the man has been serving his sentence under judicial supervision, sharing his life with his new partner in the Juvisy area.

Until that night of March 3 and the new violence denounced by this umpteenth victim... “We said so,” one of the first complainants whispered to us in disappointment after hearing the news a few days ago.

Initially assigned to the Paris police headquarters, Xavier P. was suspended on December 14 by his management, three months after his conviction at the assizes.
