"The G7 Ministerial Declaration on Industry, Technology and Digital contributes significantly to the global reflection on the governance of transformative technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Today the G7 countries confirm as a priority the need for AI to be developed and used ethically and in line with the principles and values that underpin our democracies, for the good of our citizens and for the cohesion, resilience, welfare and well-being of our societies and economies".
Thus undersecretary Alessio Butti after the G7 members adopted the Declaration.
The Declaration promoting the development and ethical use of Artificial Intelligence in the public sector signed in Trento represents "an important step at an international level", for a use that "must be ethical and responsible, preserving privacy and data security personal and fairness in automated decision-making processes".
Furthermore, the Declaration identifies digital government and the development of human-centred, secure and efficient digital public systems and services with the aim of simplifying the lives of citizens and companies as priorities of the G7 countries.
The Italian presidency of the G7 will also develop a Toolkit on AI in the public sector, i.e. a working tool for the diffusion and ethical use of AI applications in the public sector.
Furthermore, the Presidency will produce the Compendium on Digital Public Services with the aim of gathering examples of how G7 governments are managing and using digital public infrastructure.
