In order to better assess the upcoming renovation measures at the Heimatbühne, an inspection by experts recently took place.

Kochel am See

– What’s next for the home stage?

An inspection took place last week.

“It is interesting that the home stage is built on wooden planks, which in turn rest on vertical concrete supports,” reports Mayor Jens Müller when asked by our newspaper.

“This creates an approximately 70 centimeter high cavity under the entire home stage, through which, among other things, ventilation pipes are routed.” In theory, says Müller with a smile, “you could crawl lengthwise and across under the home stage”.

The ventilation pipes also led into the roof, where “quite a jumble of channels” could be seen.

“Here's the point: There should be seals at the wall openings, at least in the event of a fire, so that flames cannot spread from one part to the other,” explains the mayor

In terms of energy, the building is “sheer horror: cold roof without insulation and ventilation system without heat recovery”.

At least the central heating, which supplies the kindergarten via district heating, works reliably.

Next step: Planning for renovation needs

The walls of the local theater, which was built around 1936, were not made of brick, Müller continued.

“Similar to a truss, filling material is inserted between the wooden supports, somewhat like so-called Heraclitus panels.” Plans will now be started to address the need for renovation.

“But we will also have to wait and see what the monument protection experts decide,” says Müller.

They also took a closer look at the building after the community had inspected it.

And what's next for the cinema?

As reported, Müller had the idea of attaching a temporary staircase to the escape window from the outside.

The district office gave the green light for this.

The community is now working on implementation, but: “Unfortunately, it’s not that quick to just put up scaffolding,” says Müller.

“The scaffolders have lead times of up to two weeks, and even a temporary solution costs money.

“We are therefore still in the process of comparing costs, and also in coordination with the district building authority.”

The cinema association is “informed about every development and is thankfully exercising patience”.
