In many places in the Miesbach district the toads are out and about again.

The most important amphibian migration takes place in Kreuth.

The establishment of a frog tunnel is therefore being examined for the B 307.

Kreuth/district

- The amphibians are on the move again in the Miesbach district - and with them many volunteers: the toad migration has begun.

This means that it is also peak season for Thomas Doreth.

The conservationist looks after the frog fence on federal highway 307 near Kreuth and, together with a crew of helpers, brings the amphibians to their spawning waters.

As the Rosenheim State Building Authority has now confirmed, preliminary investigations are currently underway for the B 307 to show whether the construction of permanent amphibious facilities is possible and sensible here.

In Kreuth: Most important amphibian migration in the district

“The most important amphibian migrations in the Miesbach district actually take place in the Kreuth area,” explains press spokeswoman Ursula Lampe from the State Building Authority.

Doreth has therefore been trying for years to have the temporary fence replaced by a permanent amphibious crossing with an underground passage.

That wouldn't be entirely new for the district.

As Lamp reports, there are already sections on State Road 2073 at Teufelsgraben near Holzkirchen, on State Road 2077 near Stauden and on State Road 2075 south of Bayrischzell in the direction of Zipflwirt in areas “with fixed amphibian guidance systems and passages”.

State building authority works with nature conservation associations

Under the direction of the State Building Authority, frog fences are installed every year in addition to the B 307 in Kreuth, also on the state road in Bayrischzell towards Landl and on the road at Teufelsgraben.

“We implement amphibian protection along the roads in our area of responsibility together with nature conservation associations,” says Lampe.

For the first time there is a frog fence at Suttensee in Rottach-Egern

But there are also frog fences outside of this official area of responsibility.

This year, for the first time, a frog fence was installed at Suttensee in Rottach-Egern, where many frogs also migrate.
