The earthworks for the new “Transylvanian Home Care Center” in Lechbruck are underway.

The new building also aims to recruit urgently needed specialist staff.

Lechbruck – Two years ago, the Lechbruck local council issued building permits for the new construction of the care center right next to the current home.

Because the Transylvanian home is getting old.

The current building is 50 years old.

“We are really looking forward to the new building.

This has wide hallways and large doors,” says manager Gretel Theil.

The requirements for nursing homes have changed.

According to Theil, the Transylvanian home was built for “sprightly senior citizens”.

That's why the doors are often so narrow that you can't get through with a nursing bed or wider wheelchairs.

The new house will meet current standards.

Care center in Lechbruck: “BayernCare” is the client of the new building

The client is “BayernCare”, a classic project developer that has already planned and built 47 facilities throughout southern Germany.

At the Lechbruck nursing home, all citizens now have the opportunity for the first time to purchase nursing units as an investment for themselves or relatives.

“So there will be an owners’ association,” said “BayernCare” when asked by our newspaper.

The care provider “Arche Noris”, which has been responsible for the operation of the Transylvanian home since 2021, remains the provider of the facility.

The Transylvanian Home currently offers 70 nursing places on four levels.

64 of these are occupied.

“There is already a need; there are waiting lists for both acute and long-term care,” explains the facility manager.

But more people cannot currently be cared for.

Keyword: shortage of skilled workers.

“We have 64 employees and are desperately looking for more staff,” explains Theil.

Also because the new care center will offer space for 81 residents.

“It will definitely be a challenge,” sighs the manager.

But they are on it and have already developed plans together with the executing agency on how to recruit skilled and unskilled workers abroad.

The new building should be ready at the end of 2025 - the old building will be demolished

A good advertisement for this is certainly the new building, which, in addition to the most modern equipment, will also have more living comfort.

In the new four-story care center, each floor has its own common room with adjoining balconies or a terrace on the ground floor.

In the inner courtyard, seating, beautiful plants and a green walking path will encourage residents to get some fresh air.

In addition, the care center is centrally located in Lechbruck, so shopping, doctors and service providers are just a few minutes' walk away.

According to “BayernCare”, the costs for the care center are in the “low double-digit million range”.

The new building is scheduled to be completed at the end of 2025.

And as soon as it is occupied, the old Transylvanian home will be demolished.

According to “BayernCare”, there are no plans yet for what will be built on this land or how it will be used: “We are currently focusing on the replacement building.”
