Failure: Eggs were imported from Georgia with a genetic disease - the Ministry of Health started an inspection/system and voila!

A 47-year-old female patient was infected with a particularly virulent and antibiotic-resistant bacteria while undergoing hysterectomy surgery at Assuta Ramat HaHayal Hospital - this is what Vala learned today (Monday).

This, after it became clear that the operating room was not completely sterile.

Now, according to her associates, she is on the verge of being declared brain dead.

The patient underwent a hysterectomy last Monday, during which she was infected with the serration bacteria, which is considered very virulent, resistant to antibiotics and can cause death.

According to those close to her, the patient woke up from the operation when she did not feel.

The insiders said that on the same day they informed the hospital staff about it.

"She woke up from the operation already with an infection, they quickly put her in the operating room a second time and opened her stomach to find the source of the infection," said a close associate of the patient.

"We don't know at what point they started treating her with antibiotics," she continued and said, "We wanted to transfer her to Ichilov and the hospital refused and said there was no need. On the third day of her hospitalization, they decided to put her to sleep. Her condition deteriorated and the medical staff discovered that her pupils were dilated and rushed her to the operating room again."

With the patient's second surgery, the close friend said, she was found to have a cerebral hemorrhage in the frontal lobe.

"It took a while before they got the bleeding under control. Right now they want to declare her a brain dead patient. Why wasn't she checked before? That's what we're also asking," she said in frustration.

Attorney Avi Shmoeli, who represents the patient and the family, stated that "this is a tragic case of a young patient, and mother of two girls, who entered Assuta for a simple gynecological operation, was infected in the operating room with a virulent bacteria, which within a few days caused bleeding and severe and irreversible brain damage."

Assuta Hospital reported that "Assuta Ramat Hay'il immediately reported to the Ministry of Health a suspected infection originating from one of the operating rooms, or from one of the members of the operating room team, following a number of cases that happened in close proximity. Assuta reported that the activity in this room was completely stopped and now a comprehensive epidemiological investigation is being carried out, led by by professionals from within Assuta and outside under the leadership of expert zoologists in collaboration with the Ministry of Health. Assuta operates in accordance with the guidelines of the National Infection Prevention Unit."
