Le Figaro Nantes
It's not for lack of warning.
Monday morning, no more buses or trams are running in Nantes, to the great dismay of users.
The reason ?
The attack on a driver on Saturday at the end of the day, at the Mendès France stop, a terminus feared by drivers due to growing insecurity.
“She was in a state of shock
,” tells Le
Figaro
Nicolas Toquec, FO Naolib Semitan union delegate, about this woman who saw this weekend the two passengers of a scooter approaching her vehicle, before launching calls. paintballs from a toy gun.
Even though she was not taken to the hospital, she was very scared.
In this context, “
Naolib
employees
took the decision not to go out this Monday March 18 in solidarity and support with our colleague
,” communicated FO Naolib Semitan, as did the CFDT and the CGT.
“Indeed, no transport service has been provided since this morning”
, confirms to Le
Figaro
the Semitan (Mixed Economy Public Transport Company of the Nantes metropolitan area) which speaks of
“incivility”
.
Meeting with management
Monday morning, a meeting was underway between unions and management.
At the heart of the discussions: the movement of the place of regulation, where the drivers stop a few minutes after the end of their journey before leaving in the opposite direction.
Five lines terminate at Place Mendès France, plagued by drug trafficking.
For months, drivers have said they go there with fear in their stomachs and want to take their end-of-trip break further away.
In December, they won their case after a shooting in the same square where a young man lost his life.
The regulation point had been moved a few hundred meters further to Jamet for drivers, while the Mendès France stop remained well served for residents.
After new incidents, they demanded an extension of the measure, which management refused, citing in particular the need not to empty the square of its public services.
This time, things could change.
“Naolib management has heard the employees' concerns and has made the decision that from Monday March 18, the start of service, no more regulation will be carried out at the Mendès France Bellevue station”
wrote the FO union on Sunday evening.
Semitan has not yet confirmed the information but the situation could change in the morning.
