Three individuals of Georgian nationality were arrested early in the morning on March 4, in Le Cannet (Alpes-Maritimes), as part of an investigation opened after a series of caravan thefts committed over two months, Le Figaro learned

on

Monday with the Cannes gendarmerie company.

In January and February, the Mandelieu-la-Napoule brigade recorded numerous complaints for thefts from vehicles.

“Particularly, the facts observed concentrate on the Tourrades commercial area, in Mandelieu, on the border with Cannes and in the parking lot of the Géant store in Mandelieu

,” observes a soldier.

But above all, all these misdeeds are committed without the slightest break-in.

“They had a box allowing them to be placed between the vehicle holder and the vehicle

,” explains the same source.

Investigations fairly quickly identified the trio of criminals, described as

“very mobile”

.

In addition, similar facts are observed in the territory covered by the gendarmerie of Les Arcs (Var), implicating the same individuals.

18 months in prison

On March 4, investigators discovered that they were back in the Cannes area.

A system was immediately put in place by the gendarmes of the local company.

The trio was arrested leaving a store in Le Cannet and taken into police custody.

Aged 23, 27 and 28, they say they live in Nice and Tarbes.

At the end of their hearings, all were indicted for 17 acts of “meeting theft”, presented to a judge then before the Grasse criminal court for immediate appearance.

Each receives 18 months in prison with a warrant of committal and a ban on being in the Provence Alpes Côte d'Azur region for 3 years.

On the administrative level, the three individuals, already subject to an OQTF (Obligation to leave French territory)

“were reminded of the terms of this”

, specifies the gendarme.
