The Government reported this Monday that it detected
"astronomic expenses" and the sale of trout recipes
in the
PAMI
and pointed to the previous management, led by
Luana Volnovich
, by denouncing the "waste and laziness" with which the organization was managed.
It was the in-person spokesperson Manuel Adorni who made the announcement at his press conference this Monday.
“We are advancing in a
deep audit
in the PAMI, where
since December 10, 90 billion pesos have been cut
in political expenses, in unnecessary expenses or in expenses coming from inefficiency,” he stated.
"In December, 75% of the secretariats, 33% of the management and sub-management and 100% of the coordination were eliminated, and the calculation that had been made by the organization indicated that in May it
would cease to be operational
due to the bulky deficit that was accumulating,” he added.
The spokesperson maintained that the deficit deepened in 2023 and in November it reached 92 billion pesos.
"The waste was so great that advertising expenses of astronomical dimensions were found equivalent, for example, to an entire year of reagents for members who suffer from diabetes," he explained.
“Under the audit, the
sale of trout recipes
was reported , and the conduct and laziness was so obscene that, in addition, the organization suffered a hacking of the computer system that left 5 million members with their data at the mercy of scams.
Having made the necessary cuts, the catastrophe was also avoided in PAMI,” he noted.
Then a statement was issued from PAMI explaining that the executive management launched a series of surveys whose preliminary results showed that the social work is in a state of "high financial vulnerability."
“Pami is a patient who is in a critical situation,” stated the executive director of the social work, Esteban Leguízamo.
"I want to convey to you the assurance that, from the PAMI team, we are working hard to reverse this situation and be able to guarantee the benefits that each of you need despite the situation we find ourselves in," said the official.
At this stage, the executive management reported that it is focused on resolving the difficulties that arise in the benefit system for retirees and pensioners and "taking the necessary measures to achieve a more efficient PAMI that provides quality care to all members." .
