Because they misbehaved on the Internet and made insults and anti-Semitic statements, the Weilheim police investigated two men.

One of the two comes from the Weilheim-Schongau district, the other from the neighboring Garmisch-Partenkirchen district.

The responsible local courts have now issued a penalty order against both of them.

District - The police became aware of the “REspect!” reporting center that a 53-year-old from the Weilheim-Schongau district published hate messages directed against Muslims on social media in July 2023.

During the course of the criminal investigation, it emerged that the man insulted a high-ranking politician on the Internet in September 2023.

In another case, a 58-year-old man from the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district was investigated.

This came to attention in October 2023 due to anti-Semitic statements made in public.

Hate messages on the Internet, insults, anti-Semitism: criminal order issued

In both cases, the responsible specialist commissioner for state security offenses at the Weilheim Criminal Police Inspectorate, under the direction of the Munich II public prosecutor's office, conducted the investigations on suspicion of insult and incitement. After their conclusion, the district courts of Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Weilheim issued penal orders.

The judges imposed heavy fines on both the 53-year-old (4,400 euros) and the 58-year-old (3,600 euros).

The convictions are already final.

“The criminal orders issued in both cases make it clear: hate crime in general and anti-Semitism will not be tolerated,” said the Upper Bavaria South Police Headquarters.

The Internet does not offer any anonymity or any legal freedom that enables or condones the commission of crimes.

“The police and the judiciary are doing everything they can to effectively combat crimes of this kind.”
