She takes first place.
Gif-sur-Yvette is the safest town in Essonne, according to our ranking based on 2023 data from the police and gendarmerie.
The commune, on the north-eastern borders of the department, has a particular face: very wooded, it is home to part of the Saclay plateau and its universities, schools and research-oriented structures.
In detail, Gif-sur-Yvette, which has a municipal police force, displays good statistics - among the 13 best in the Île-de-France region on several aspects of delinquency: assault and battery, destruction of property, violence sexual, drug trafficking... Which gives little work to the gendarmes assigned to the sector?
Not that easy.
Theft incidents are on the rise: 7% increase last year for burglaries, and almost 10% more for vehicle thefts.
