The student representatives of Lazio organized a demonstration this morning under the Lazio Region to contest the administration of the Lazio Disco body for the right to study.
The event, launched by Sapienza Futura (first list of Sapienza), was attended by Primavera Studentesca (University of Cassino), Università dello Studente (University of Tuscia), Progetto Tor Vergata, Progetto Roma Tre, WS ForoItalico, University Student Council - CampusBio-Medico , ALPHA Luiss, ASP Roma Luiss.
"Today hundreds of students from all the universities of Lazio are gathered under the Region to demonstrate against the continuation of the administration of the DiscoLazio body for the right to study which is causing profound inconvenience to students and is forcing them to give up their university studies - Declares Claudia Caporusso , elected as the only representative in Lazio among more than 250 thousand students - in recent months we have received thousands of messages from desperate students who were relying on the scholarship to guarantee a future. We have tried in every way to dialogue with the institutions without receiving any response: this is the demonstration that although young people have the right to hold representative positions, they are not given the opportunity to influence the decisions that are made every day about their destiny".
"We need concreteness and structural actions, so that the right to education is not episodic. It is necessary to immediately appoint the Lazio Disco institution so that the student representatives can once again count and be heard. But we must do it immediately, our patience is over!"
says Lorenzo Madonna, representative on the Board of Directors of Sapienza University.
The Region has confirmed the appointment between President Rocca and the student delegation scheduled for the day after tomorrow, Wednesday 20th, at 4 pm.
The Lazio Region recalls that in total for the 2023-24 academic year it has allocated over 179 million euros for approximately 35 thousand students ". The regional councilor of Lazio and Welfare manager of Action, Alessio D'Amato, was present at the students' initiative. "Today I participated in the demonstration under the headquarters of the Lazio Region to bring solidarity to the students who have not, so far, received any response to their requests .
ARocca I say students are not spam, they deserve respect.
Three clear answers are needed, the first certainty of the resources and timing of the disbursement of the scholarships, the second the end of the commissionership and the third a serious policy of the right to study and housing for students".
