New DNA samples in the Sonja Engelbrecht murder case

The remains of Sonja Engelbrecht from Munich, who went missing in 1995, were discovered in a rock crevice near Kipfenberg in March 2022.

The investigators now believe that the then 19-year-old was the victim of a sexual offense.

They consider it “extremely likely” that the perpetrator in 1995 had a connection to Kipfenberg and the surrounding region.

For this reason, investigators have taken DNA samples and interviewed people in the community several times in the past.

Last year, the case was discussed in a special edition of the television program “Aktenzeichen XY... Cold Cases”.

This led to several tips from the public.

The investigations in this case are not yet completed.
