Wencke Myhre became famous with German hits - but the Norwegian-born singer sometimes didn't understand her own lyrics.
Oslo – Quite a few stars in the German pop music sky do not sing in their native language.
This also applies to Wencke Myhre (77), who has been on stage for 70 years now.
The native Norwegian became famous with songs like “He has a bright red rubber boat”.
But the musician had no idea what she was singing, especially at the beginning.
Because she didn't understand the language: Wencke Myhre had to have her own song lyrics translated
Wencke Myhre, who recently criticized the hit industry, already had her first record deal in her pocket at the tender age of 13 - the starting signal for a great career.
Music was in her blood, so to speak, because her family wasn't untalented either.
“Father played the accordion, my brother played the clarinet, and I sang,” she describes in the

interview.
The young artist also quickly gained a foothold in the German music world - but there was one problem: the language.

Could she even understand her own texts?
“Not always!” admits the 77-year-old.
However, she would have had enough people around her who would have explained and translated everything to her in detail.
And luckily Wencke Myhre was able to understand a lot of things himself.
“A song like 'Hey, hey, hey, do you already know my Peter', of course I already understood that,” she says.

Although she did not speak the language directly, Wencke Myhre has been successful in Germany for many years and is also an integral part of major hit shows.

“Weddings are not an issue for us.
I'm too grown up for that now.
“We are so very happy together,” she further emphasizes to “Bild am Sonntag”.
