Following the announcement of the death of Captain Daniel Peretz on October 7, and the abduction of his body to Gaza, his family and friends paid tribute to him today (Monday).

David, Daniel's best friend, shared Walla: "We waited so long, 162 days we waited for a different end, for him to come back."

Captain Peretz will be laid to rest today at the Mount Herzl Military Cemetery at 3:00 PM.



"Daniel was a person who was always there for his friends and family," said David.

"No matter what I would talk to him about, he was always there for me. He was a person who always strived for victory, the best fighter I know. He was always challenging, always wanted to win and bring out the best in him from every situation he was in in life.

"Brought the best out of every situation."

According to him, Daniel was not supposed to enlist in the fight because of his profile, but "he did everything" to fit in.

"Later on, even when he was assigned to the armor, he advanced from there to the elite unit of the armor, and later went to the officers' course."

He also said that the last time he was in contact with him, Daniel talked about going to the MP course, but he did not have time to do so.



Daniel was born in South Africa, and when he was 13 his family immigrated to Israel. Following the announcement of his death, his sister Shira wrote about him: "Thank you for The privilege of being the sister of the hero of Israel."
