The Israel Film and Television Academy today (Monday) announced the finalists for the 2023 Television Awards ceremony in 42 categories.
The record holders are: "Hanshi" with 14 nominations.
Head to head with 12 nominations "Alf" and "Main Cup", "East Side" with 10 nominations and "Third Party" with 9 nominations.
In the meantime, the Academy announced that it will award awards to South and North correspondents of the news systems for coverage while risking their lives.
"The last quarter of 2023 was almost entirely dedicated to news broadcasters and special studios in view of the war. Therefore, the Academy decided to award special recognition awards to South and North district reporters for reporting in real time while risking their lives on October 7 and in the following months," the announcement reads.
In News 13, the prizes will be awarded to the northern reporter Ali Moghrabi and the southern reporter Almog Boker.
At N12, prizes will be awarded to southern reporters: Tamir Steinman and Nitzan Shapira and to northern reporters: Guy Veron and Ader Gitzis.
Here on the 11th, awards will be given to veteran northern reporter Robbie Hammershlag and in the south to Itzik Zoertz.
Channel 14's southern correspondent Ariel Idan - absent from the list, even though he also risked his life and stayed in Otef for the benefit of the coverage.
In light of the criticism, Almog Booker announced that he is renouncing the award: "After seeing the contradiction between the television academy's response and the actual things, I am renouncing the recognition award until all television reporters in the north and south who covered the war, including Channel 14 reporters, are included. I saw with my own eyes Ariel Idan was put under fire more than once. Thanks, but no thanks."
