There was a lot on offer at the Miesbacher Strong Beer Festival in the Bräuwirt on Friday evening.

In the full hall, the guests were not only able to enjoy a funny one-act play by the traditional costume club as well as beer and music, but also experienced a premiere and an aptly humorous Lenten sermon from the water spirit - who also knew how to strike a serious tone.

Miesbach – It was a special evening for Mayor Gerhard Braunmiller at the strong beer festival.

During the obligatory tapping of the barrel, he initially refrained from making any self-confident comments, but rather went to work with concentration.

In front of several camera lenses, he took a courageous swing and with the first blow drove the tap into the wood so hard that his usual safety blow was no longer necessary.

The dry start to an entertaining evening for which Braunmiller was celebrated.

“That’s what I’ve planned for today,” he explained when asked by our newspaper.

“That was a first.”

Advice for the mayor

The tips from the water spirit were easy to put up with, as he picked out Braunmiller first with his well-known rascal charm.

“You’ve been mayor for four years now.

And?

What does the hosd do like that – apart from debt?” he asked the town hall boss.

“Yes, you've done a lot, but you just don't notice anything.” And that's dangerous with a view to the next election: “Güldner Astrid is already shuffling with her hooves.

People read more about them than about you.”

Listen up: The water spirit told some people off – mischievously, but also with serious words.

The water spirit alias Nikolaus Ruml worked through the past year with a colorful bouquet of topics.

When it comes to the warm outdoor pool, he advised the city to declare it as a “retention or flood protection pool” in order to be able to operate it.

He praised the Miesbach youth for their commitment, because of the long closure of the youth center to the golden park bench - always accompanied by the words: "Cheers, the water spirit needs fluids!"

Trachtler boss Klaus Beer had to use this evening as a running joke and - after a faux pas in the summer - had the water spirit show him again and again how to greet guests of honor with his wife.

A problem that did not exist with State Parliament President Ilse Aigner: “Today you are here as your own woman.”

Looking at Aigner's previous political positions, he stated: “You wanted to take a close look at everything so that you would know what was going on - in case you ever became Prime Minister.

That we finally have someone in the post who knows what he is saying.”

The same applies to the water spirit: whoever is in the sermon is in.

Seen in this way, young activist Andreas Kempf, who initiated the new youth parliament and is involved in the museum association, the bathroom development association and the SPD, was able to be happy for the first time.

Many locations, which the water spirit commented on: “Am Kempf Andi is even so boring that he voluntarily sits in every public city council meeting.”

Farmers' protests - from Miesbach's perspective

The farmers' protests couldn't be missed either - although "Miesbach stands still" had no effect despite traffic jams and parking shortages: "Here and there you just heard someone say: Hey, is there a market again today?"

Warning words

But the fact that in Warngau the district administrator and mayor needed police protection at the information event about the refugee accommodation, the water spirit became serious: “Something is not right.

You must not forget to distinguish between anonymous state politics and public district politics.

You usually know the people personally and in some cases you voted for them.” Those who do politics locally do so “because their homeland is important to them.”

The nice thing about democracy is: “Everyone can take part – unless they are writing their doctoral thesis.”
