Cracking the crime case of the Karaja family/Shlomi Gabai, Yoav Itiel
The police raided the businesses of the Karaja crime organization in the north of the country and in the center early Monday morning.
Detectives and investigators of the Central Unit of the Coastal District in Shitanf Lahav 433 with the assistance of hundreds of police officers from police and security forces arrested dozens of suspects for crimes of extortion by threats, violence, tax offenses and more. The investigation shows that the suspects extorted sponsorship fees from contractors through apparently legitimate security companies they own.
They also forced the contractors to receive guarding services in the projects that the contractors carry out in exchange for payment to those guarding companies, which are allegedly used as a platform for money laundering and blurring the money trail of the criminal organization.

During the operation, the homes and offices of the suspects, the head of the crime organization and 15 other suspects allegedly belonging to the crime organization were raided, and they will be brought in for questioning, at the end of which they will be brought in for a hearing on the extension of their detention at the Haifa Magistrate's Court.
The investigation was accompanied by the Tel Aviv District Attorney's Office, criminal and civil.
Among the seized loot were 17 luxury vehicles, valuable property, 14 real estate properties and hundreds of thousands of shekels in cash and bounced checks.
In addition, two guns were seized.
The total value of the seized property is estimated at tens of millions of shekels and the police intend to request its confiscation as part of the legal proceedings against the suspects.
"This morning, an undercover investigation came to an end against an organization whose real resource is SDAK," said Chief of Staff Oshri Abuxis, commander of the Coast Guard. "Mainly SDAK is guarding, money laundering, threats. And that's the only way he kept his money ".
According to him, the investigation took many months, when it was done with the full cooperation of the Central Unit of the Coast and Lahav District 433. "This morning, during searches and arrests, a great many vehicles were seized, a great deal of money; guns and various weapons were seized.
In total, about 20 suspects were arrested."

"Our job is to deal with the criminal organizations, and to close the oxygen pipe to them, this is a classic example of closing an oxygen pipe," said the commissioner about the event.
