Once again, the Münster “crime scene” team has to endure harsh criticism: the new criminal case involving Jan Josef Liefers and Axel Prahl was not well received by some viewers.
Münster – On Sunday evening (March 17th), ARD showed a new criminal case from the Münster “Tatort” team.
In the film “Among Gardeners,” Chief Inspector Frank Thiel (Axel Prahl, 63) and Professor Karl-Friedrich Boerne (Jan Josef Liefers, 59) investigate a criminal case in an allotment garden.
How was the new episode of the investigator duo received online?
“Again a low point”: ARD viewers tear apart the new Münster “crime scene”
There was already a lot of criticism from the audience for the last Münster “crime scene” (“The Man Who Fell into the Jungle”, December 10, 2023).
On Facebook, crime fans called the film “underground” and some called it the investigative team’s worst “crime scene” – and this time too, the new case by Jan Josef Liefers and Axel Prahl cannot convince everyone.

The criminal case in the idyllic allotment garden became increasingly absurd for the ARD viewers.
“Right now, Tatort is drifting into nonsense,” said a user on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
Others agree with him.
“Unfortunately, another low point among the worst crime scenes!
Also an art!” writes another ARD viewer and: “‘Tom & Jerry’ is now more realistic”.
Departures from the “crime scene” investigators
There has been an increasing number of “crime scene” investigators leaving ARD recently.
First Miroslav Nemec (69) and Udo Wachtveitl (65) announced that they were saying goodbye to the Munich team, then the Göttingen investigators (played by Maria Furtwängler, 57 and Florence Kasumba, 47) dealt with their last criminal case on February 11th and finally returned Rick Okon (34) also turned his back on the Dortmund “crime scene”.
“More explosions than an entire Cobra 11 episode”: “Tatort” action scenes cause displeasure
For many viewers, the new “crime scene” is simply unrealistic.
“A car explodes and she continues to eat her cake with relish,” writes a stunned user.
“This crime scene offers more explosions in the last few meters than an entire 'Cobra 11' episode” and “Does James Bond live in an allotment garden in Münster?”
It seems as if the screenwriters wanted a bit too much - the action scenes definitely fell through with crime fans.

Despite repeated criticism from viewers, “Tatort” remains very popular – the ratings regularly show this.
According to
dwdl.de
, a total of 12.73 million viewers tuned in to “Unter Gärtnern”.
In the younger target group (14 to 49 year olds) there were a whopping 2.12 million viewers - once again a great success.
In particular, the Münster “Tatort” with Jan Josef Liefers and Axel Prahl is, according to the annual balance sheet for 2023, the most popular offshoot of the ARD crime film series.
