Which town in Val-d'Oise is the safest?

Le Parisien has compiled data from the Ministry of the Interior concerning in particular burglaries, assault and battery or even deliberate destruction and damage to establish a ranking of the safest towns with 20,000 inhabitants in Île-de-France.

In this game, several municipalities in the department are doing well.

Winning trio for Val Parisis

According to our ranking, the safest town in Val-d'Oise is Cormeilles-en-Parisis, thanks in particular to good statistics in terms of assault and battery or destruction and damage.

Seventeenth in the Ile-de-France ranking, the town led by Yannick Boedec (LR) is ahead of Taverny (31st) and Eaubonne (42nd), two other towns in the Val Parisis agglomeration community.

Only Montmorency plays spoilsport in a top five where we also find Franconville, fifth.

The Val Parisis Urban Community is reaping the fruits of the efforts put in place in terms of security.

Starting with the creation of an intercommunal police force which intervenes seven days a week, from 6 p.m. to 4 a.m., and a major video surveillance system, with no less than 500 cameras (and 600 in two years) whose images are viewed live within a modern Urban Supervision Center (CSU), inaugurated in 2018 in Franconville.

“In Cormeilles, we feel that delinquency is stable despite the increase in the population,” explains the mayor (LR), Yannick Boëdec, also president of the agglomeration.

In fifteen years, we have gone from seven to twenty-five municipal police officers.

It helps.

Zero delinquency will never exist, but we resist.

It also helps to put to rest fears regarding the switching off of public lighting for part of the night.

Some said the numbers were going to explode, but that hasn't changed at all.

We are still around 1,000 facts per year.

But there is more and more domestic violence and scams on the Internet.

Argenteuil and Cergy in progress, but can do better

Despite significant efforts made over many years, the two largest cities in the department are stuck in the last quarter of the ranking, occupying 16th and 19th places respectively.

However, both municipalities are making efforts.

Argenteuil thus concluded a partnership with Pôle emploi in 2022 to train its own municipal police officers.

The service now has 60 agents, unheard of since its creation in 2002. Cergy, for its part, has notably created a nighttime peace brigade.

“It’s a considerable effort, both in human and financial terms,” explains Xavier Péricat, first deputy mayor (LR) of Argenteuil.

We have a night brigade and a dog brigade, not to mention 200 cameras.

Afterwards, comparison is not right, and it is difficult to compare a city of 20,000 inhabitants and another of more than 100,000. We are trying to deploy this security policy, but it remains a long-term task.

These results show that our action is going in the right direction.

We must strengthen our security policy and go further.

To the east, Gonesse, Sarcelles and Goussainville lag behind

Three towns in the east of the department are among the bottom four municipalities.

Red lantern in this ranking, Goussainville is just ahead of Gonesse.

18th, and Sarcelles is barely better.

Goussainville particularly pays a heavy price for burglaries.

According to a study carried out last year by the ministerial statistical service for internal security, it is one of the cities most affected by this phenomenon, with no less than 15.9 burglaries per 1,000 homes in certain neighborhoods.

A problem taken head-on by the municipality, which notably organized prevention workshops for seniors, increased municipal police patrols, and signed a citizen participation system to establish a partnership between security forces. order, elected officials and residents, with the aim of fighting against delinquency.

The eastern commune which is doing the best is Garges-lès-Gonesse.

Sometimes saddled with a bad reputation, the fourth largest city in the department climbs into the top 10, ahead of municipalities like Herblay-sur-Seine or Pontoise.
