Even if one assumes that Princess Kate has the best intentions, the Mother's Day photo remains a blatant blunder - with potentially dire consequences.
Windsor – The joy over the first photo of Kate Middleton (42) on Mother's Day (in Great Britain on March 10th) quickly disappeared.
The image was manipulated, and the Princess of Wales' apology was quickly exposed as a lame attempt at rescue.
The world is now puzzling over what this photo campaign was about, why it seemed botched and why it showed off Princess Kate.
But experts agree: "Kate's photo editing for Mother's Day was an avoidable mistake by the royals."
Royals like Kate Middleton should be open and honest with the British public
The Princess of Wales may have had the best of intentions when she edited the adorable Mother's Day photo, allegedly taken by husband Prince William, 41 - but it backfired and fueled further speculation.
The mother of three, who is recovering from an operation, actually deserves sympathy.
Nevertheless, the Photoshop photo of Princess Kate and her children seems like a dilemma.
Our new Whatsapp channel also offers more news from the world.
Publishing the photo as a newsworthy image without allowing for editing from the outset was an avoidable mistake by those responsible at Kensington Palace.
If the intention was to show Kate as happy and recovering, it must be clear that the picture will be closely scrutinized after the long break of over 70 days.
Now everyone thinks there is something to hide.
The more pressing question remains: What is the real reason behind Princess Kate's game of hide-and-seek?

Behind the whole photo-gate, the big question remains: What's going on with the Princess of Wales?
Why doesn't she want to present herself?
Publishing the original photo could help curb wild speculation.
But the bad feeling remains that not only Kate, but the entire monarchy is now burdened.
The British people may feel betrayed, the monarchy may have lost credibility, and trust may have suffered a deep crack.
