The storm with hail at the end of August 2023 hit the Schlosser car dealership in Bad Wiessee hard.

The company is now planning a huge carport directly on the main road to protect its vehicles.

Despite some concerns, the Kreuth local council majority agreed.

Ringsee – The big hail hit the car dealership in Ringsee twice.

Once, when all vehicles – new and used cars – were demolished on the company premises.

And the next time it became clear that the insurance company would no longer be willing to insure the car dealership if the locksmiths did not meet certain requirements regarding the protection of the vehicles.

Because Autohaus Schlosser GmbH urgently needs to create a way to store the vehicles, it has now applied for a new building to provide a roof for exhibition and new vehicles - a huge wooden carport, so to speak, 42 meters long and 13 meters wide.

The wall height should be between 3.37 and 4.25 meters.

Because the car dealership is located on the municipal border between Bad Wiessee and the Kreuth district of Ringsee, the Kreuth local council had to deal with it.

As became clear in the most recent public meeting, he initially did this behind closed doors.

The local councilors did not like the fact that the carport was to be built directly on Wiesseer Straße (B 318) in this size and height, also because a deviation from the distances had to be granted when it came to height.

They had asked the building applicant to move the building to the rear of the site towards the meadow and reduce the height.

Mayor Josef Bierschneider (CSU) explained why this makes no sense from the applicant's point of view: “The car dealer doesn't want to roof the employee and repair cars that are in the back area, but rather the new cars.

And the cars that are for sale should be displayed on the street.” As far as the height is concerned, they tried to reduce it.

But because the terrain is sloping, the planner can't do much about it.

With the exception of Ulrike Rohnbogner (CSU), all local councilors seemed to have come to terms with the dimensions and positioning.

She showed no understanding: “The presentation is not an argument.

If someone is looking for a car, they drive into the yard and look at what's on offer.

The structure is simply too high for me.

And I don’t understand why the massive thing has to be in the front row.” Parliamentary group colleague Christian Bock, however, found that only the location directly on the street made sense.

Otherwise the car dealer would also lose too much space.

Leonhard Rohnbogner (CSU), on the other hand, said: “He builds it with wood.

I'm confident this will look good.

We should support him.”

Roofing should be limited to car dealerships

Peter Stiepan (CSU) demanded that “the brutal drumbeat” should only apply for the duration of the commercial use of the land and should be removed again if the car dealer ever gives up his car dealership.

Martin Walch (SPD) also wanted the use of the roof to be limited to the car dealership.

However, Mayor Bierschneider questioned whether the district office, as the approval authority, would do this.

He pointed out that consent, including the deviation from the distances, would only be granted if the building applicant is prepared to make space available to the community if the sidewalk is to be widened into a pedestrian and cycle path.

Ultimately, all local councilors except Ulrike Rohnbogner agreed with this.
