“Of course age poses a problem for employers”: the long quest of unemployed seniors

“I would take anything,” admits Véronique, 55, resident of Oise.

This former Post Office employee was dismissed due to disability, after twenty years with the company.

For three years, she has been actively searching, but has found nothing.

“Of course age poses a problem for employers.

They're not going to tell you that you're too old, but we know that very well.

This Monday morning, the Creil Sports Executives center hosted the first edition of the Senior Employment Forum, organized by France Travail.

Objective, in a sector where a quarter of job seekers are over 50 years old: to allow direct meetings with companies.

Amazon, Lidl, Parc Astérix or smaller structures like Auxi'life, specializing in home help, were present.

In front of them, a dense crowd and queues which continued to lengthen.

In total, 263 candidates presented themselves.
