Space for up to 218 refugees: In Moarhölzl, south of Holzkirchen, a collective accommodation facility has been built on behalf of the district and will go into operation in a few weeks.

The container village for refugees in Moarhölzl will soon be ready for occupancy.

The first residents will probably move into the accommodation at the beginning of May.

When occupying up to 218 places, the district office wants to ensure a “compatible composition”.

Holzkirchen

- Construction began at the beginning of November: a general contractor connected 250 individual living and supply containers in Moarhölzl, a community-owned area between Holzkirchen and Großhartpenning, into a two-story square.

The refugee village grew up within a few months.

The block is 72 by 38 meters in size, and an inner courtyard opens to the south.

The district office wants to begin occupancy at the beginning of May.

As the district authority reported upon request, it was not entirely possible to meet the targeted opening date right after Easter.

“Things had to be coordinated and clarified that were not foreseeable despite the most elaborate planning,” explained Sophie Stadler, press spokeswoman for the district office, when asked.

For example, a wood storage facility next to the ensemble would have to be closed down because an emergency collection point is planned at this point.

The construction company will probably be able to hand over the container accommodation at the end of April, according to the district office.

That means: The first refugees will probably move in at the beginning of May.

The Hoki on-call bus will drive to the Moarhölzl accommodation, and over 200 bicycle parking spaces are available.

The Moarhölzl district is intended to be the first liberation blow for the district in order to free the gyms in Miesbach and Tegernsee, which have been converted into emergency accommodation, despite the ongoing influx of refugees.

As is known, the district authority is already planning another collective accommodation for around 500 people in the north of the district, in the Birkerfeld industrial area, which is part of Warngau;

These plans sparked violent protests (we reported).

Clearing at least one gymnasium is a goal;

At the same time, the authority must pay attention to how quickly and in what composition the 218 Moarhölzl places are allocated, said Stadler: “This planning is extremely difficult.” In order to achieve a “balance of occupancy”, the asylum authority takes gender, age and nationality into account , religious affiliation and marital status.

On the one hand, it could be helpful to bring together refugees from a region, says the spokeswoman.

“Ghettoization must be avoided.” Especially since experience shows that refugees from the same regions are not always happy when there are conflicts in their home regions.

Due to the size of the container village, according to Stadler, men, women and children of different nationalities will live next door to each other, including Ukrainians.

A security service is on site around the clock, and Caritas offers advice twice a week.

As Mayor Christoph Schmid reports, it was possible to recruit over 20 volunteers for a group of helpers;

some of them even prepare for it in courses.

It is still unclear whether the municipality will create an additional contact point on its own account, for example for job placement.

“I want to know exactly what this position is supposed to achieve,” emphasizes Schmid.

The district office did not want to comment on the costs of the accommodation, which the Free State bears.

The site is leased by the market town.

The container village can be operated for five years; an extension of up to two years is conceivable.
