Lieselotte Nitz from Gröbenzell has been committed to helping her fellow human beings for decades.
Now she has been given a special honor.
Gröbenzell/Straubing – She was one of a total of six citizens from Bavaria who received the Federal Cross of Merit.
Words of praise were heard at the event in the Straubing Knights' Hall last Friday.
For example from the Bavarian Construction and Transport Minister Christian Bernreiter: “You have shown great commitment in a variety of ways.
You all have one thing in common - you put your fellow human beings first, committed yourself to our Bavarian homeland and sacrificed a lot of time for it," said Bernreiter, according to a statement from the ministry.
And further: “In order to make our community even more livable in the future and to strengthen the cohesion of our society, we need role models like you.”
Setting an example
In the case of Nitz, this specifically means: having been active in the social sector for the common good in an exemplary manner for over 40 years.
According to the statement, the woman from Gröbenzell worked in various social-educational institutions and has been involved in the Evangelical Lutheran Zacchaeus Community in her hometown since 1975.
Above all, Lieselotte Nitz has made outstanding contributions to helping refugees in Gröbenzell.
In addition to organizing general, broad-based aid projects, she also provided individual help to numerous people.
In 2017, she also initiated the nationwide “Living Working Group”, in which she is still involved today.
She is also the contact person for helpers.
