The unions are calling on public sector workers for a major mobilization on Tuesday March 19.

In Loire-Atlantique, National Education staff have decided to be zealous: they will be there but have planned to extend hostilities until Friday March 22.

“This follows two days of strike which already took place on February 1 and 6.

250 strikers met at the end and voted unanimously for 4 days of strike

,” explains to Le

Figaro

Clément Brochard, CM1 teacher in Nantes and co-secretary of Sud Éducation 44. The initiative was immediately encouraged and taken up by the inter-union.

“We are one of the first departments to have announced four firm days of strike.

Since then, the initiative has started to see the light of day elsewhere

,” explains the school teacher, who speaks of his department as historically a driving force in this struggle.

In Seine-Saint-Denis, a mobilization against the shock of knowledge was voted on at the end of February, corresponding to the start of the winter school holidays.

In the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, actions began this Monday, for at least three days.

In Bordeaux, the inter-union announced four days, on the same model as Loire-Atlantique.

We hope it becomes a national slogan

Clément Brochard, co-secretary of the Sud Éducation union 44

“Our goal is for it to catch on.

This is a departmental call but we hope that it becomes a national slogan

,” continues Clément Brochard.

In one of the leaflets of the inter-union 44 intended for parents, several demands are stated.

“The continued reduction in public spending worries us and prevents us from properly carrying out our missions in the service of your children

,” the SUD, FSU and CGT unions jointly share.

“The education budget has been cut by 700 million

,” observes Clément Brochard, who regrets a future lack of resources in his department.

At the start of the next school year,

“25 positions will be eliminated and 87 classes closed in Loire-Atlantique schools”

.

Against 39 openings.

“Yes, there is a slight demographic drop”

, recognizes Clément Brochard,

“but we should take advantage of this drop to ensure good replacement conditions and fewer numbers per class”

.

He says that in his school, out of the last 13 days of absence, there was only one and a half days replaced.

Teacher discomfort

The trade unionist also points to the suffering experienced by staff.

As a member of an inter-union body linked to prevention, he sometimes receives safety sheets testifying to the feelings of his peers and the incidents encountered.

In one year, 1,100 arrived.

“It explodes.

Just like requests for resignations and conventional terminations

.

And the government response remains inaudible to its ears.

“We need more teachers, AESH, medico-social staff, and the government is responding to us with the uniform, the SNU,

level groups

which for them have the sole purpose of

“coming aggravate the social divide

.

The prolonged strike is therefore a matter of a balance of power.

“It’s the only language that the government understands

,” regrets Clément Brochard, before finishing.

“I think that what we are experiencing in Loire-Atlantique, many others are experiencing in other departments.”

In Nantes, among the different actions, two demonstrations are organized on Tuesday (at 10:30 a.m. in front of the prefecture) and Thursday (at 11:30 a.m. in front of the castle of the Dukes of Brittany).

The same evening of March 21, a school night should be set up.

In Bouguenais, on the outskirts of Nantes, this nighttime occupation of an establishment should be implemented on the night of Tuesday March 26 in a college, a sign that the mobilizations could extend beyond four days.

The general assembly scheduled for Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. in the center of Nantes should make it possible to coordinate all the initiatives that are flourishing.
