This medical information could have remained private.
Indeed, since the announcement of the Princess of Wales' surgery at the start of the year, the British tabloids had adhered, by mutual agreement, to a principle of respect and goodwill towards the family.
But a shift was created on Mother's Day in Great Britain when Kensington Palace shared a crudely retouched photo of Kate Middleton with her children, George, Charlotte and William.

“We don’t understand what happened. Honestly, even we as specialists have difficulty explaining that a photo has been retouched three times
,” declared the royal chronicler, Bertrand Deckers.
And to continue: “
We now know that it was the princess's desire to appear as normal as possible because we can still see that she is very thin.
If she had taken a photo without retouching it, we would certainly have had some leads.

“
A family marked by tragedy”
“We were fooled if I can put it that way. They remain the kings of communication. We believed, in recent days, that big mistakes had been made with this famous photo [...] Nevertheless, what they really wanted to hide - which we are in the process of discovering as we begin to speaks – they managed to hide that perfectly.”
Indeed, if the Princess of Wales had warned by press release of her abdominal surgery last January, it would have been almost a month since the diagnosis would have changed.
“It appears that the cancer results came back on February 27, the same day as the tribute for King Constantine and William's absence from this event.
[...] For the moment, it is a family deeply marked by tragedy.

Particularly affected by the news, Bertrand Deckers could not help but speak of the “curse of the princesses of Wales”.
“The previous one was Diana, it ended very badly.
There now at 42, cancer.
As you said, she is the mother of young children.
It’s very challenging.”
He also pointed out that Kate Middleton was number 1 in popularity among the Windsors.
“
It’s really a shock wave that will flow through the United Kingdom because they most often know Kate Middleton better than their own brother or sister”
