the new paving stones were laid in October 2022 after the renovation of the water and sewage systems and the modernization of the electricity network.

Another criticism raised by some citizens is the fact that, according to UNESCO, residents of the city center are not allowed to install air conditioning or replace windows, but the city has changed its appearance.

Despite the criticism of the new floor slabs, the city of Trogir sees the redesign as necessary.

reports that the previous paving stones were of poor quality and already damaged, posing a danger to pedestrians.
In order to avoid repeated work, the floor had to be renewed.
Contrary to what many people believe, the sidewalk is not that old.
The stones are said to come from the 70s and 80s and are therefore an imitation of historical paving stones.
It is also emphasized that both the approval and the financing for such a project do not come from the city, but from an agency and the Trogir Nature Conservation Authority.
