Easter is coming.
Despite the mild weather in March, an onset of winter at the end of the month could not be ruled out.
Now meteorologists are relatively certain.
Kassel – The hunt for Easter eggs is particularly early this year.
This fuels the fear among many that winter could strike again, especially at Easter.
In fact, the American Climate Forecast System (CFS) predicted frost in the middle of the month for the end of March.
After spring-like weather had already arrived in large parts of Germany, weather experts are now making a completely different forecast.
Easter weather: No onset of winter in sight for egg hunts
As early as February, some weather forecasts had predicted a relatively cool March.
But March has also been extraordinarily mild so far.
By the end of the month and thus also by Easter, this doesn't really seem to be changing: "There will be no onset of winter in Germany at Easter," writes meteorologist Dominik Jung from

On the contrary, Easter in Germany this year could even boast summery temperatures: “The latest forecast for Easter Sunday from the European weather model is a summer day,” says weather expert Dominik Jung, looking at the data.
According to current forecasts, temperatures could reach up to 25 degrees on March 31st.
“But I would still be a little cautious,” says Jung cautiously.
Forecast for the end of March: Weather at Easter very mild - but changeable
According to Jung, Easter is generally very mild: “From Good Friday to Easter Monday, the maximum temperatures are usually around 15 to 20 degrees.” But rain is always possible in between, says Jung, who is still certain: “But the sun won’t be closed either come shortly.”
The trend forecast from the German Weather Service (DWD) also predicts slightly changeable weather for the Easter weekend from March 29th to 31st.
Nevertheless, mild to very mild weather, with dry spells and sunshine, can be expected.
A small winter weather comeback in the next few days – snowfall possible in the Alps
But until that happens and the Easter egg hunt can possibly even start in airy clothing, colder air masses will reach the country again.
According to Jung, a short advance of polar air over the weekend will bring more ground frost and, in places, air frost.
“The weather is like April,” says the meteorologist, summarizing the developments.

The DWD predicts changeable showers and even snow at higher altitudes.
In the Alps and the Ore Mountains above 500 meters, longer lasting snowfalls are possible on Saturday (March 23rd) and Sunday (March 24th).
The temperatures are cool, but usually not wintery.
According to the DWD report, these are likely to increase again on Tuesday (March 26th).
March is currently the second warmest on record - the “record hunt” is likely to continue in April and May
After the extremely mild winter, February 2024 was one of the warmest, if not the warmest February months since weather records began.
March seems to be no exception.
“With an average temperature of exactly 7.0 degrees, March 2024 is currently the second warmest March in more than 140 years, the beginning of weather records,” states Jung.
According to the meteorologist, the hunt for temperature records could continue in the coming months.
“The latest monthly forecasts also assume that April and May will be significantly too warm,” says Jung, referring to the data from the CSF model.
Across Europe, a deviation of plus one or two degrees from the climate average for the years 1991 to 2020 is possible.
According to the meteorologist, this could mean one of the five warmest springs in the last 140 years.
A completely different “weather report” from the United Nations shows what serious effects climate change could have.
