The cyclists now have sovereign rights in the Alte Bayernwerkstrasse between Dachau and Karlsfeld.
Drivers other than residents are not allowed to drive there.
The municipality of Karlsfeld now wanted to adopt the same regulation for the crossing Waldschwaigweg.
But residents opposed it.

For a few weeks now, only residents have been allowed to pass through the Alte Bayernwerkstrasse between Karlsfeld and Dachau.
Now the Karlsfeld Environment and Transport Committee wanted to designate the Waldschwaigweg as a bicycle route, but residents thwarted the plans.
Karlsfeld – It is not often that Karlsfeld local councilors receive applause at the end of a meeting.
This was the case in the Environment and Transport Committee on Tuesday evening.
The focus of the meeting was the Waldschwaigweg, which according to the draft resolution should be designated as a bicycle route.
But in the end it was about a completely different street: the Alte Bayernwerkstrasse.
As reported, it has been a bicycle street for a few weeks now.
Apart from residents, drivers are prohibited from using the popular Schleichweg between Dachau and Karlsfeld.
One man's meat is another man's suffering.
While environmentalists and cycling lovers rejoice, the residents of Waldschwaigweg are simply annoyed.
Because at the moment only residents of Alte Bayernwerkstraße are allowed to travel there, but not residents of Waldschwaigweg.
We are completely cut off and have to take a three to four kilometer detour if we want to get to Dachau or the shopping markets in Karlsfeld.
Andreas Holzner, resident of Waldschwaigweg
“We are completely cut off and have to take a three to four kilometer detour if we want to get to Dachau or the shopping markets in Karlsfeld,” explained Andreas Holzner, one of the Waldschwaigweg residents, when asked.
In order to be able to do his work, farmer Andreas Strobl also has to take a detour with his tractors and combine harvesters through the settlements west of the railway.
“There is a kindergarten nearby.
I think that’s very dangerous,” said Strobl.
Residents accidentally find out about the community's bicycle street plans
In order to make the unfortunate situation clear to those responsible in the community, Andreas Holzner, riding stable owner Peter Holzner, the Strobl farming couple, the owner of the Waldschwaigstüberl Anneliese Helmberger, seamstress Gabriele Klepsch and other residents invited people to a joint meeting.
“We accidentally found out that the community wanted to designate the Waldschwaigweg as a bicycle route,” said Gabriele Klepsch indignantly.
“We are blown away!” The residents raised the alarm.
They said they wanted to be involved in such decisions.
Karlsfeld's municipal administration is changing course
Your wishes came true.
The administration rowed back.
As Karlsfeld's traffic officer Bernd Wanka (CSU) announced at the meeting, he also advocated citizen participation.
“We want to promote cycling, but not at the expense of individual residents who then bear the brunt of the burden.”

According to Mayor Stefan Kolbe, all cycle streets must be discussed as part of an overall concept.
“We don’t want to rush anything.” Kolbe emphasized that the situation on Waldschwaigweg should remain as it is.
The administration took up the residents' idea of allowing local traffic to and from Waldschwaigweg on Alte Bayernwerkstrasse.
And not to declare the Waldschwaigweg Karlsfeld's third cycle route for now.
Environment and Transport Committee unanimously adopts amended resolution
Bicycle speaker Franz Trinkl (SPD), who was surprised by the change in resolution, “can live with the interim proposal,” as he said.
The Waldschwaigweg is so narrow in many places that cars cannot drive there faster than 30 kilometers per hour anyway.
Peter Neumann (Alliance for Karlsfeld) stated that the Waldschwaigweg was only used by residents anyway.
“If everyone who wants to go there can continue to go there, then we won’t actually change anything with a bike street.” The committee unanimously approved the new resolution.
It may take a while until Karlsfeld gets a third bicycle street.
“We have found in your case,” Kolbe told the residents, “that we should take a further look.”
