The Munich bookstore chain Hugendubel is introducing a new system: In the future, books purchased from the company will be able to be exchanged for vouchers.
Munich - Hugendubel says it is the first German bookseller to introduce a buyback program for used books - in order to put used books back into circulation.
The Munich bookstore chain has entered into a cooperation with the British start-up Zeercle, Hugendubel announced.
But how is the whole thing supposed to work?

Books you have read can be exchanged for vouchers at Hugendubel
In the future, customers should be able to exchange books for vouchers if they have read them or no longer want to keep them.
To do this, the books must be registered for sale on the Hugendubel website and then handed over to a branch.
From a value of 10 euros they can also be sent directly to Zeercle via free shipping.
The customer then receives a voucher which can then be redeemed online or in one of the Hugendubel branches.
Through the campaign, “read books are not simply thrown away, but are given a second life in the spirit of the circular economy,” says Nina Hugendubel, managing partner of the Munich company.
