- Change at the top of the club: The chairwoman of the Friends of St. Matthias, Inge Schmidt, resigned from her position after ten years.

Katharina von Platen, who graduated from the school in 2013, was appointed as her successor.

At the general meeting, headmaster Ralf Wiechmann emphasized the commitment and generous support of the circle of friends.

The outgoing chairwoman, for her part, emphasized the “good cooperation both within the board and with the school management and the institution’s owner.”

Schmidt was a teacher at the school from 1975 to 2014 and, after Hanns Mittermeyer and Gerhard Gesierich, was the third chairwoman of the support association founded in 1992.

The circle of friends, with its current 341 members, was able to provide financial support for school trips and various school projects as requested.

“Over the past ten years, it has been my concern to run the association conscientiously, to fulfill its statutory purposes and thus to promote the St. Matthias institution,” said Schmidt.

The cash report for 2022 and 2023 demonstrated that the association had conscientiously handled the funds entrusted to it. “All income, which almost exclusively consisted of membership fees, all went to supporting school life,” calculated Edith Birner , who offered her position as cashier.

After all, “the goal is not to accumulate money in savings accounts.”

Before the members went to vote in the school auditorium, foundation director Manfred Bugl briefly presented the planned structural changes.

They are intended to help intensify the use of the dormitory area.

The new chairwoman is now Katharina von Platen, and Alexandra Probst, who graduated from the Waldramer School in 2015, is now taking over the cash desk.

Andreas Gleixner was confirmed in his position as secretary, as were the auditors.

Von Platen emphasized that she was looking forward to her new role.

As a student, she immediately found the “good spirit that prevails in St. Matthias to be beneficial.” That is also the reason why she, like many of her classmates, has remained connected to the institution even after such a long time .
