In order to focus more on the needs of cyclists and pedestrians in the future, Hausham has decided to set up a working group.

At the request of Katharina Stiller (Greens), the local council in Hausham decided to establish a cycling and walking working group (AK).
But there will be no speaker.
Hausham - Rank 394 out of 474 tested places with up to 20,000 inhabitants in the ADFC bicycle climate test 2022 speaks a clear language, as Katharina Stiller said in her application justification: “We have a lot of catching up to do when it comes to cycling infrastructure.
This includes pedestrians, walker users and wheelchair users.”
Better conditions for cyclists and pedestrians
In order for the mobility transition to be successful, says Stiller, participation in road traffic must become more attractive and safer for these groups.
As experiences from other district municipalities show, appropriate working groups and the appointment of speakers have done good work here.
“The long-term goal should be to be classified as a bicycle-friendly community,” said Stiller.
To this end, she suggested regular meetings every two months with representatives from the parliamentary groups, the administration and environmental associations such as ADFC and Federal Nature Conservation Association.
Mayor Jens Zangenfeind thought the idea of an AK was good in principle.
According to the town hall boss, the concerns of cyclists have already played a major and serious role for the community.
Zangenfeind also pointed out that a report drawn up as part of the Integrated Urban Development Concept (ISEK) will be available in around two months, which will include, among other things, recommendations from the ADFC for improving pedestrian and cycling traffic: “I would suggest waiting and then doing it decide how we move forward.”
The town hall boss was not comfortable with the appointment of a speaker: “When it comes to the nitty-gritty, such as property issues, the administration is the right person to contact.” Peter Wagner (SPD) found both points important, although he does not necessarily see the speaker as a member of the local council: “It should be someone who enjoys dealing with the topic.
Regardless of ISEK, this will always accompany us in the future." Erich Eckmair (CSU) criticized the fact that the application does not contain a word about the needs of drivers: "I miss that and I would suggest waiting for the ISEK report first."
Engage citizens in conversations
As traffic speaker, Christian Baur (FWG) warned against approaching the matter too naively.
He referred to conversations he had with residents of Schlierachstrasse about the topic of bicycle streets: “The enthusiasm was manageable.” If so, Baur said, not only bicycle enthusiasts will be allowed to sit at the table, but all citizens who are affected by the planned measures: “I don’t want to slow it down, but it’s not all positive.”

This argument encouraged Wagner to agree to the motion because “no one should be played off against each other.” Finally, Stiller's parliamentary group colleague Sascha Privitera also suggested waiting for the ISEK report.
The applicant did not agree with this: “ISEK only looks at the town center, but not Agatharied, for example.
That’s why it’s important to me now and I think it’s a good story.”
With two votes against, the committee finally gave the green light to the installation of the “AK Cycling and Pedestrian Traffic”.
The appointment of a speaker, however, was rejected by the majority.
