Lake Garda is a popular holiday destination for Germans - so some places are overcrowded.
If that's too much for you, there are magical alternatives.
Lake Garda doesn't have its nickname for nothing: Munich's southernmost lake.
From the state capital of Bavaria, but also from the rest of Germany, masses of tourists flock to the famous Italian waters to unwind between Riva del Garda and Sirmione.
However, since Lake Garda, where there have recently been increasing numbers of rock falls, is anything but an insider tip, there are often overcrowded tourist resorts where relaxation suffers.
Four alternatives to Lake Garda
The hustle and bustle begins at Easter and lasts until autumn.
Finding a quiet place on Lake Garda is usually a hopeless endeavor.
If you can no longer relax on Lake Garda but would still like to seek relaxation on a body of water in warmer climes away from the sea, you can still do so.
Because there are promising, lesser-known alternatives to Lake Garda that also boast beautiful landscapes:
1. Lake Molveno
Lago di Molveno is around 80 kilometers from Lake Garda - at an altitude of 822 meters.
The lake is around 4.4 kilometers long and is extremely popular with surfers.
Holidaymakers have plenty of quiet places to relax here.
The town of Molveno is also home to accommodation for tourists.
You can enjoy the beautiful Trentino landscape on one of the numerous hiking trails around the lake.
You can also enjoy a wonderful view of Lake Molveno from the mountainous surroundings.

2. Lake Idro
Lake Idro lies between Lake Garda and Lake Iseo and is still considered an insider tip, even though its popularity is increasing every year.
The lake, nestled between green mountain slopes, is ten kilometers long and is particularly popular with water sports enthusiasts.
This is due to the regularly recurring winds - a paradise for surfers and sailors.
But even if you just want to enjoy a relaxing beach holiday, you've come to the right place.
On the one hand, because of the pleasant average water temperature of 24 degrees Celsius in the summer months.

3. Lake Toblino
Lake Toblino is picturesquely located near Trento, where there was recently a big stir about a bear nearby.
It is considered one of the most romantic places in Trentino, surrounded by vineyards and orchards, rolling hills and dense forests.
It's not for nothing that many couples decide to get married on Lake Toblino.
Ideally suited as a romantic trip with your partner.
But Lake Toblino also serves as an adventure holiday destination due to the wide range of hiking and sports on offer.
