After the specialist clinic in Lenggries hit negative headlines in 2023, an important prerequisite for a new beginning is now in place.

Lenggries – The Lenggries specialist clinic hit negative headlines last summer.

Due to deficiencies in care, incorrect insulin administration and discrepancies in the roster, the district office revoked the facility's operating license in August 2023.

The clinic has since been closed.

Now an important prerequisite for a new beginning has been met: the specialist clinic will have a license again from April, as the new clinic director Johannes Lederer reports.

Before he can give a specific opening date, he first needs additional specialist staff.

50 employees remained employed after the closure

A lot has changed in the last few months - first and foremost the name: The Lenggries facility and the operator's second clinic in Bruckmühl (Rosenheim district) are now called “Geriatric Rehabilitation Upper Bavaria Clinics” (GRO).

The clinic management was replaced by the consulting company Oderender, which is active in clinic and hospital management.

For this purpose, Oberender assigned his employees Jens Brockmann as managing director and Johannes Lederer as clinic director.

The shareholder of the GRO clinics is the investor Auctus.

One constant, however, is the on-site staff.

“Lenggries is characterized by cohesion like a big family,” says Lederer.

The approximately 50 employees were continued to work after the closure.

Most recently, most of them helped out at the clinic in Bruckmühl.

There was also an admission freeze there, and it reopened in January.

GRO clinic in Lenggries is looking for medical management

According to Lederer, other employees helped out at the empty location in Lenggries: for example, in a lounge and dining room whose glass roof was broken by hail in August 2023 and where water damage occurred.

The collaboration with some nursing assistants whose language level or training was not sufficient was ended.

Meanwhile, the clinic management checked the structures in the background and developed a new concept.

However, in order to implement this reliably and stably in Lenggries, you still need specialist staff, “in the medical, nursing and therapeutic areas,” says Lederer.

In particular, they are still looking for a medical director.

Dr. Dr. has been the head physician for the two clinics in Bruckmühl and Lenggrieser Bergweg since November.

The clinic in Lenggries has a concession for 60 beds

Lederer offers the prospect of a “starter bonus” to skilled workers who join the Lenggries GRO Clinic.

According to him, employees who recruit new colleagues are also financially rewarded.

The clinic management now wants to show the outside world: “Something is going on here again.” An information evening is being held for this purpose, to which all interested parties, but also specialists and, above all, possible applicants are invited.

Structurally, the house on Bergweg is ready for new patients.

Not much had to be done in the past few months.

The current concession is for 60 beds.

“But the building has even more potential to potentially cover gaps in the healthcare market in the future,” says Lederer.

He could even imagine a kind of “health campus” here.

Demand for geriatric rehabilitation is enormous

Initially, geriatric rehabilitation will continue to be offered here.

This means that patients of advanced age - usually they are over 80 or over 65 with "multimorbidity" - are made fit for an independent life again after acute hospital stays.

“These can be neurological and internal medicine patients,” explains chief physician Radi, “people who have had a stroke, a pelvic fracture or a fracture of the femoral neck.” In the rehabilitation, for example, neuropsychologists, speech therapists, occupational therapists and physiotherapists are available to them.

“We also want to set up a model apartment in which patients and relatives can practice getting along in everyday life,” says Lederer.

The need for geriatric rehabilitation is enormous.

“We have an average of five requests for a bed.”

Information event

The concept of the GRO clinic in Lenggries will be presented on site on Wednesday, April 10th, from 5:30 p.m.

There are drinks and canapés.
