Jörg Hartmann can look back on a successful career as an actor.

However, the Dortmund “Tatort” star is almost never really satisfied.

Berlin - "By the time you're thirty, at the latest, you'll be at the Schaubühne." Jörg Hartmann (54) made this resolution as a young actor - long before he started his successful career as a television actor.

An engagement at the Berlin Theater was the artist's big goal, who grew up in a small town near Dortmund and dreamed of a varied life in the adventurous metropolis as a teenager.

Actor Jörg Hartmann is self-critical despite his professional success

His assertiveness was ultimately rewarded, as Hartmann was a permanent member of the ensemble at the Schaubühne from 1999 to 2009.

He later also celebrated great successes in front of the camera, for example as a Stasi officer in the ARD series “Weissensee” or as Inspector Peter Faber in Dortmund’s “Tatort”.

The fact that he is one of the most sought-after German character actors does not change the fact that Jörg Hartmann continues to be regularly plagued by self-doubt.

In an interview with the TV magazine “Brisant” he revealed that despite his success, he is very self-critical of himself.

“In any case, you need a certain level of self-confidence to even do it.

“But that doesn’t mean that I haven’t always had and still have great self-doubt,” Hartmann openly admits in an interview.

“So it's always the case that I question myself extremely, or question what I create and think: Is this really good?

Does anyone care?”

Regular excursions into nature help Jörg Hartmann to find himself again

Although life as an artist in the capital Berlin was his absolute childhood dream, Jörg Hartmann now prefers to live in neighboring Potsdam.

Over the years, the TV star has realized that the hustle and bustle of the big city is not good for him in the long run.

Meanwhile, in Potsdam he has the opportunity to regularly escape into nature to enjoy the silence and find himself again.

“I notice that I can always gather myself and gain strength in nature,” Hartmann continues in an interview with “Brisant”.

“That's why it would be too much for me to live here, in a huge city like Berlin.

So I always have to have the opportunity to get out.” By the way, Jörg Hartmann will stay with the Dortmund “crime scene” for a while.

WDR recently revealed that Chief Inspector Peter Faber's departure is not in sight for the time being.
