Fürstenfeldbruck - When men in black hats hold a dance party on stage to groovy techno beats or a couple dances with each other tightly wrapped around texts by Gustav Mahler, it means one thing: it's dance first dance festival again at the event forum Fürstenfeld.

Since 2016, dance first has taken place every two years.

This is the fourth time this year that the events forum will be dancing through the summer.

No wonder, because the festival was a complete success from the start.

It was almost sold out the first time in 2016, remembers Norbert Leinweber from the event forum.

Audiences as well as dancers and choreographers would have been completely thrilled by both the event and the venue on the monastery grounds.

Second largest dance festival in Bavaria

After its success in 2016, the festival took place for the second time in 2018 in cooperation with the FFB theater association, which is still the organizer today, and developed - with an interruption due to Corona - into the second largest dance festival in Bavaria.

“Only Munich is ahead of us,” says Leinweber proudly.

Thanks to keen interest and substantial financial support, he is able to bring international ensembles to the city hall in Bruck for the fourth time.

Between classic and modern

Heiner Brummel is responsible for the extensive program.

When making this year's selection, he paid attention to aesthetics and choosing life-affirming pieces: Because in a time full of crises and wars, this was important to him.

He also selected some important and style-defining pieces of modern dance to bring them closer to the audience.

One of them is “May B”.

“The piece is one of the most performed theater and dance pieces in France, if not the entire world,” says Brummel, introducing the dance theater piece by choreographer Maguy Marin.

The piece, which deals with the existential questions of being human, will be performed by the Compagnie Maguy Marin on June 4th at 8 p.m.

Tickets cost 42 euros in advance, reduced prices 38 euros.

Mixtures of styles and a Bavarian premiere

It continues on June 9th with the group IT Dansa, which, according to Brummel, is “the most important and significant young ensemble in Spain”.

Three choreographies will be danced in one evening, bringing intimate couple dances, a mixture of rhythmic Indian and contemporary dance as well as a “hot declaration of love to dancing” to the stage.

Tickets cost 42 euros in advance, reduced prices 38 euros.

The ensemble of the Bavarian Junior Ballet Munich will also perform several pieces by different choreographers under the title “Messages of Love” on June 25th at 8 p.m.

Tickets: 36 euros, reduced 32 euros.

On July 7th it will be local: at “Made in FFB” four dance studios from the area will show what they can do at 5 p.m.

Here the tickets cost 18 or 12 euros.

There will be a Bavarian premiere on July 10th at 8 p.m.: the Saarland State Ballet goes on a search for meaning and orientation in Bryan Aria's new piece “Odysee”.

Tickets cost 42 euros in advance, reduced prices 38 euros.

Finally, the Croatian National Ballet Rijeka will dance four very contrasting pieces in its program “Transparada”, which will bring, among other things, fantastic metamorphoses and exuberant parties to the stage on July 16th at 8 p.m.

Tickets cost 42 euros in advance, reduced prices 38 euros.

For all events, tickets at the box office are two euros more expensive.
