Ten cases of domestic rape were investigated in 2023 – an increase of 400 percent.

The Freising police had to process fewer crimes in 2023 than in 2022.
There was an increase in rapes in the domestic environment.

- According to the current crime statistics from Freising's PI boss Andreas Wegmaier, a total of 2,612 crimes were registered in the PI Freising service area (see "Good to know") in 2023: "This represents a decrease of 234 cases or 8.2 percent compared to the previous year, in in which 2,846 crimes were counted." For the Freising city area, the police recorded 2,043 crimes last year - in 2022, 2,198 crimes were counted (minus 155 cases, 7.1 percent).
The clearance rate of PI Freising was 60.6 percent in 2023 (2022: 63.5 percent) and thus fell by 2.9 percent compared to the previous year.
Sexual Offenses
Sexual offenses in the Freising PI's area of responsibility fell from 112 to 103 (minus eight percent).
Wegmaier: “One focus of sexual offenses is the distribution of pornographic writings.” There were 57 cases here (minus 21.9 percent or 16 cases), which also included the forwarding of pornographic images between cell phones – for example in chat groups becomes.
Last year, eleven cases of sexual harassment (minus six cases compared to 2022) and 18 cases of sexual abuse (an increase of four cases) were reported in the PI Freising area of responsibility.
In 2023, ten cases were investigated for rape.
This represents an increase of 400 percent. Two cases had to be determined in 2022.
The PI boss explains: “It must be mentioned that all crimes were crimes committed in the domestic environment.” All cases were solved because the perpetrators were “always identified within family or acquaintances.”
Bodily injuries
According to Andreas Wegmaier, a decrease in the number of cases of physical injuries was found compared to the previous year.
In 2023, there were a total of 302 bodily harm crimes (simple, dangerous and serious bodily harm).
Last year the number was 325 crimes.
This represents a decrease of 23 cases.
In the area of “violence against police officers” (resistance against and physical attacks on law enforcement officers or similar people) there was a decrease of a total of four cases from 25 to 21.
Theft and burglary
Theft offenses continue to make up another large proportion of the total number of crimes, even if a decline in the number of offenses was noticeable in 2023: “Last year, the Freising police counted a total of 775 cases, a minus of 27 cases.
The number of residential burglaries fell from 18 to 15 in 2023.
However, there was an increase in bicycle thefts: 273 bicycles were stolen - 18 cases more than in 2022.

Shoplifting
Shoplifting fell by two cases compared to 2022: According to PI boss Wegmaier, there were a total of 149 registered cases.
Fraud crimes
The number of fraud cases fell from 219 cases to 210 offenses, i.e. by 4.1 percent.
Wegmaier: “However, there is a large number of unreported cases here, as many attempts at fraud, including via telephone or messenger services, are recognized by citizens and are not reported.
A decrease of 30.1 percent to 58 offenses was recorded in the area of document forgery.
Compared to 2022, there was a slight decrease in drug-related offenses: 308 cases were processed in 2023 - a decrease of twelve cases.
