He fired two gunshots at his daughter-in-law, wounding her in the chest and right leg.
It happened in Gioia Tauro.
The woman is hospitalized in Reggio Calabria hospital while the man, Francesco Gullace, 84 years old, already known to the police, presented himself at the Gioia Tauro Police Station and was arrested for attempted murder.
He also handed over to the officers the weapon with which he fired, a 9 mm pistol with the serial number removed.
The woman was immediately operated on.
Her condition is serious but her life is not in danger.
Late in the morning, the woman was taken to the emergency room of the Gioia Tauro hospital by an acquaintance, with a gunshot wound to her chest and one to her leg.
Given her seriousness, the doctors decided to transfer her to the Grand Metropolitan Hospital of Reggio Calabria.
Almost at the same time, Gullace showed up at the police station and told the officers that he had shot his daughter-in-law.
According to what was reconstructed by the investigators, coordinated by the prosecutor of Palmi Elio Romano, the event happened in the apartment where the victim, a 42-year-old of Tunisian origins, lives with her husband.
Relations between the woman and his family have been tense in recent times.
This morning, Gullace, according to the first reconstruction, showed up at his son's house asking to see his two grandchildren and when the woman refused, he entered the house and shot.
