March has been extremely mild so far, but there were still fears of a winter comeback at Easter.
Weather experts now have a fairly reliable forecast.
Frankfurt – Digging eggs out of a thick blanket of snow?
There's not really an Easter mood there.
But weather forecasts from the beginning and middle of March predicted that the Easter egg hunt could potentially be quite uncomfortable.
There was even talk of a return of winter at times.
Slowly but surely, weather experts can make pretty reliable predictions about what the weather will look like on the Easter weekend at the end of March.

Summer weather or the onset of winter on Easter Sunday?
Weather expert gives foresight
In February, some weather forecasts suggested a rather cool March.
But March has been unusually mild so far.
And nothing seems to change until the end of the month, and thus until Easter: “There will be no onset of winter in Germany at Easter,” says meteorologist Dominik Jung at
wetter.net
.
Surprisingly, we could even experience summery temperatures in Germany this year at Easter: “The latest forecast for Easter Sunday from the European weather model is a real summer day,” says weather expert Dominik Jung about the current data.
According to current forecasts, temperatures could reach up to 25 degrees on March 31st.
“But I would still be a little cautious,” says Jung.
Meteorologists' forecast: Changeable but very mild Easter weather
According to Jung, Easter will be very mild overall: “From Good Friday to Easter Monday, the maximum temperatures are usually around 15 to 20 degrees.” However, it could always rain in between, says Jung, who at least assures: “But the sun won’t be too short either come."

The trend forecast from the German Weather Service (DWD) for the Easter weekend from March 29th to 31st also indicates slightly changeable Easter weather.
Nevertheless, mild to very mild weather, with dry phases and sunshine, is expected.

Weather forecast for Germany at the end of March: “Weather like April”
However, the swimming trunks can remain in the closet for now.
Before the Easter egg hunt can possibly begin in light clothing, colder air masses will once again reach Germany.
According to Jung, a brief advance of polar air over the weekend will once again bring ground frost and, in some places, air frost.
“The weather is like April,” says the meteorologist, summing up the weather development.
The DWD predicts changeable showers and even snow at higher altitudes.
In the Alps and the Ore Mountains, longer-lasting snowfalls could occur above 500 meters on Saturday (March 23rd) and Sunday (March 24th).
The temperatures are cool, but usually not wintery.
According to the DWD report, these should rise again from Tuesday (March 26th).
The hunt for temperature records continues: April and May could be “significantly too warm”.
After the exceptionally mild winter, February 2024 was also one of the warmest, if not the warmest February since weather records began.
March seems to be no exception.
“With an average temperature of exactly 7.0 degrees, March 2024 is currently the second warmest March in more than 140 years, the beginning of weather records,” states Jung.
According to the meteorologist, the hunt for temperature records could continue in the coming months.
“The latest monthly forecasts also assume that April and May will be significantly too warm,” said Jung, referring to the data from the North American CSF model.
Across Europe, a deviation of plus one or two degrees from the climate average for the years 1991 to 2020 could be possible.
According to the meteorologist, this could mean one of the five warmest springs in the last 140 years.
The United Nations wants to draw attention to the devastating effects of the climate crisis in a completely different “weather report” for the year 2050.
