The official launch date is aimed at 2025, but new rumors circulating online are reporting that this is not the case

Grand Theft Auto VI/Rockstar Games

Just about three months ago, Rocketstar broke the internet as soon as it released the first trailer for one of the biggest games of the last decade:

GTA 6 (VI)

.

The trailer reached more than 90 million views already in the first 24 hours from the moment it was published on Rockstar's YouTube channel, and it officially confirmed to us that the players will return to the city of Vice City (this time in modern times), and the plot of the game will focus on a couple of criminals named Jason and Lucia.

The trailer did reveal to us that the game will be released sometime during the year 2025, but according to sources from the website Kotaku, there is a chance that GTA 6 will be postponed to the end of 2025, and may spill over into the beginning of 2026.

Last February, Rockstar required all of its employees to return to office work until this April, after that for the past few years the development teams have been working from home due to the outbreak of the Corona epidemic around the world.

Officially, the request was made for reasons of "improving productivity and strengthening security" (especially after the huge leak from 2022 in which quite a few materials from the game's early development process were revealed), but behind the scenes it seems that Rockstar management is afraid that development will be delayed and the game will be rejected - a situation from which they are trying to avoid at all costs, therefore calling on their employees to return to work in the office.

The news of the return to normal caught many employees by surprise, and many of them expressed dissatisfaction and fear of a situation where Rockstar would return to the crunch culture for which it was so notorious - a situation where developers are forced to work much overtime during the last months of development, sometimes to the point of Physical exhaustion, and especially mental.

This phenomenon has grabbed many headlines in the past, especially after the development of Rockstar's previous title -

Red Dead Redemption 2

, pushed Rockstar's employees to the limit and made developers work around 100 hours a week on average.

It is important to note that since then Rockstar has tried to adopt a healthier work environment for employees, and the management has promised to try to avoid such situations in the future.

As of now, no official announcement has been made about the postponement, but according to Kotaku's sources, this is a possible move that Rockstar is keeping as a backup plan for the day when development may be delayed, and 2025 will no longer be a realistic date when GTA 6 can be released. Management hopes that a return to normality will help meet the schedule scheduled to release the game in the spring of 2025. Whether the game is released on time or delayed, it seems that the developers at Rockstar have a lot of work ahead of them, especially when it comes to one of the most anticipated games in the history of the industry.

As is the habit of the GTA series over the years, it creates quite a few scandals.

Not everyone was enthusiastic about the trailer of the sixth game that caused quite a bit of storms on the net since it was released last December.

Many far-right users on US social media described it as "Zionist propaganda in disguise" designed to corrupt children and youth with sex, crime and violence. Someone should probably let them know that the game is restricted to ages 18 and up and should not be sold to children at all

. among them) was due to the fact that players will play a female character in the series -

Lucia

. Many claimed that this is a clear example of how the "progressive tyrol and the Woke culture" infiltrated Rockstar, but they probably forgot (or didn't know) that back in GTA 1 players could play more than one female character , but three.
