The Italian designer, at the head of the Roman house since 2008, announced his departure in a press release.

Just a few days after the announcement of the departure of Belgian designer Dries Van Noten is leaving the brand that bears his name, a new surprise on the transfer window for artistic directors: Pierpaolo Piccioli, who designed the collections of the Roman house Valentino since 2008 (until in 2016 with Maria Grazia Chiuri, since left for Dior, then alone) leaves her position.

It's the end of a 25-year adventure for the native of the coastal town of Nettuno, who has not yet revealed what his future will hold.

After an experience at Fendi in the 1990s, the Italian joined Valentino to take care of accessories.

A success which pushed the management to entrust him with the reins of creation in 2008, in partnership with another Italian, Maria Grazia Chiuri.

The tandem worked together until 2016, when MGC left Italy for France, and joined Dior.

Piccioli then took over the artistic direction alone, surrounded by a team including Sabato de Sarno, now at Gucci.

He then developed his language, faithful to the glamorous roots of the house, adding his sense of color - among his most striking collections, it is impossible not to mention the one, almost entirely pink, for Fall-Winter 2022-2023 but also its couture collections, in Paris, Venice or at the Château de Chantilly...

I am grateful for Pierpaolo Piccioli's vision, his commitment and his creativity which have allowed the House of Valentino to become what it is today

,” said Jacopo Venturini, the house's CEO in a statement.

A new “creative organization” is expected to be announced soon.

In the meantime, the rumor machine should get carried away...
