Horrifying news from the British royal family.
Like King Charles, Princess Kate was also diagnosed with cancer.
She is now making her illness public in an emotional video message.
Windsor – In January, Princess Kate (42) underwent abdominal surgery.
Initially it was said that it was not cancer.
But the rude awakening followed for Kate, Prince William (41) and their three children Prince George (10), Princess Charlotte (8) and Prince Louis (5).
“At the time, the assumption was that it wasn’t cancer,” Kate explains in a video released Friday evening, nine weeks after Kate’s surgery.
“However, examinations after the operation revealed that there was cancer.”

“I wanted to take this opportunity to personally thank you for all the wonderful messages of support and understanding as I recover from surgery.
It's been an incredibly tough few months for our whole family, but I've had a fantastic medical team who have looked after me brilliantly, for which I'm so grateful."

“I had major abdominal surgery in London in January and at the time it was thought not to be cancer.
The operation was successful.
However, post-surgery tests revealed that there was cancer.
My medical team therefore advised me to undergo preventive chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of this treatment.
This was obviously a huge shock and William and I have done everything we could to process and deal with this privately for the benefit of our young family.”
Princess Kate tries to reassure: "I'm fine and getting stronger every day"
“As you can imagine, this has taken some time.
It took me some time to recover from the serious surgery before I could begin treatment.
Most importantly, we needed time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that was appropriate for them and to reassure them that I would be fine.
As I tell them [my children;

“I’m doing well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that help me heal my mind, body and soul.”

“We hope you understand that as a family we now need some time, space and privacy while I complete my treatment.
I have always enjoyed my work and look forward to returning when I am able, but for now I need to focus on making a full recovery.
At this time I also think of everyone whose life has been affected by cancer.
To everyone affected by this disease in whatever form, please do not lose faith and hope.
You are not alone."
In the last few days there had been speculation as to whether and when Princess Kate would publicly comment on her state of health - now she has made her diagnosis public.
