One year and two months of imprisonment and 5 thousand euros in damages.
This is the sentence of the Court of Padua, seven years after the events, against the 41-year-old former Italian-Argentine rugby player Bruno Andres Doglioli for a tackle against the referee Maria Beatrice Benvenuti.
The Prosecutor's Office had requested a 3-year sentence.
The story dates back to 11 December 2016 in Altichiero (Padua) where Valsugana Rugby and Rangers Vicenza, at the time both Serie A teams, were facing each other.
Doglioli, who was removed from the federation and today lives in France, with the mass of his 100 kilos threw himself, taking her from behind, towards the referee, overwhelming her, probably because he was annoyed by a warning given to him.
The referee remained on the ground and then got up, continuing the match until the final whistle.
She was subsequently taken to hospital where she had a 40-day prognosis due to the trauma she suffered.
Beyond the choices of sports justice, with the player's radiation, Benvenuti filed a complaint for the damage suffered.
The former player's lawyers have already announced an appeal.
