Strong thunderstorms may occur in parts of Bavaria on Thursday afternoon (March 21st).

The German Weather Service has issued an official warning.

The German Weather Service has extended the warning for strong thunderstorms in the Free State - it is valid until Thursday (March 21st), 5:30 p.m.

The warnings for the area around Nuremberg and Regensburg have now been lifted.

- Bavaria - The German Weather Service has issued an official warning of severe thunderstorms in parts of Bavaria.

The warning is currently in effect on Thursday (March 21) from 3:45 p.m. to around 4:30 p.m.

The warning of strong thunderstorms applies, among other things, to Munich and the surrounding district.

There could be gusts of wind with speeds of up to 70 km/h, as well as heavy rain with precipitation amounts of around 15 liters per square meter in a short time and small-grain hail, the DWD said.

DWD warns of possible dangers: lightning strikes, falling branches

There is a risk of lightning strikes, falling branches and hailstorms, warns the DWD.

It is best to avoid spending time outdoors or seek shelter and watch out for falling objects outdoors.

According to the DWD, thunderstorms can also occur around Nuremberg, Regensburg, Cham and Ingolstadt.

There are wind gusts with speeds of up to 60 km/h.

For now, the warning is valid until Thursday (March 21st) at 4 p.m.
