The Pollingen sports club chairwoman Elvira Hutter-Heinrich is suffering from leukemia.

A large-scale typing campaign is now intended to find potential stem cell donors.

Polling – “Roll up your sleeves against leukemia!

Register!”: Under this motto, a large-scale call for typing has been launched by the Aktion Bone Marrow Donation Bavaria Foundation (AKB) in cooperation with the Polling sports club.

Background: Three weeks ago, Elvira Hutter-Heinrich, the long-time chairwoman of the sports club, was completely unexpectedly confronted with the diagnosis of “leukemia”.

Now a suitable stem cell donor or a “genetic twin” is needed to save Hutter-Heinrich’s life.

The typing campaign for the SV chairwoman and many other leukemia patients will take place on Sunday, April 14th, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. in the sports center of the “Am Jakobsee 2” sports club.

Looking for as many healthy people as possible between the ages of 17 and 45

The news of Hutter-Heinrich's illness was a big shock for SV Polling, explains board member and local councilor Christopher Daniels when asked by the local newspaper: "Elvi has worked for the general public all her life.

Now we can give something back to her.”

The community is also on board with the organization of the typing campaign.

All businesses and associations in the region were contacted.

“There is a lot of support,” explains Mayor Martin Pape.

“Everyone is really into it,” confirms Daniels.

What is urgently needed is not only as many healthy people between the ages of 17 and 45 as possible to have themselves typed, but also donations.

Each initial registration costs the AKB Foundation 35 euros.

The effort required for the registration itself is otherwise low: a simple cheek swab is enough to potentially save lives.

By the way: Everything from the region is also available in our regular Schongau newsletter.

And in our Weilheim-Penzberg newsletter.
