An event of environmental cleaning but above all of social integration.
This is what took place this morning in six Italian seaside resorts thanks to the renewed synergy between Seconda Chance, a Third Sector association that acts as a bridge between prisons and companies to create reintegration opportunities, and Plastic Free Onlus, the organization committed since 2019 to combating pollution from plastic.
Around 350 volunteers went into action with around fifty inmates at their side, coming from nine penitentiaries (Cagliari, Livorno, Secondigliano, Palmi, Locri, Laureana diBorrello, Bari, Ancona Montacuto and Ancona Barcaglione) deserving of a reward permit granted by the Surveillance Judiciary .
Over 4,000 kilos was the total "loot" of plastic, waste and bulky items which were liberalized on the coasts of Ancona (Portonovo beach), Bari (Pane e Pomodoro beach), Cagliari (Piazzetta Fernando Pilia), Castel Volturno in Caserta (Oasi dei Variconi ), Livorno (Piazzale dei Tre Ponti) and Palmi in Reggio Calabria (La Quiete-Angolo Verde).
