Happiness as a mother beyond 40?

What sounds like utopia to many became reality for actress Cameron Diaz.

She had a baby at the age of 47 - and encourages other women who want to have a child later in life.

San Diego - While some doctors warn against late pregnancy in women, Cameron Diaz shows that you can still experience motherhood even after you're 40.

In 2019, the then 47-year-old gave birth to a daughter.

The news that Diaz and her husband Benji Madden (43) became parents for the first time in their lives made waves.

Women in particular, to whom the desire to have children later in life is sold as utopian, are likely to feel strengthened by the example of the young-at-heart, late mother.

Diaz's example confirms that there is no such thing as a biological clock.

At least it works a little differently for everyone and you can't say across the board: from this specific age it's too late.

Diaz is trying to keep the way she got pregnant so late a secret.

However, those around her revealed that she and her husband had been trying for years.

After giving more than half of her life to the public, she now feels like it's okay to "take time for yourself to reorganize," Diaz explained in an interview with her friend Gwyneth Paltrow on a

podcast .

She was happy, blessed and grateful for the birth of her child.

Cameron Diaz convinces: “The whole concept of aging has completely changed”

“The whole concept of aging has completely changed, even in the last decade,” Diaz says.

“It has completely opened up.

I'm excited.

I still have 50 or 60 years ahead of me - I want to live to be over 100 because I have a small child.

I think when you turn 40 you have this wonderful moment where you appreciate who your parents are, and I want to have that moment with her - be with her when she's 40."

Diaz's recipe for success for more serenity in life: She doesn't take herself too seriously.

In a conversation with Jimmy Fallon, she makes fun of herself and says that her phone is no longer full of pictures of her dogs and their dog poop.

Now she plays children's songs instead.

Her daughter loves her to death: "It's so satisfying to see that growth and be a part of it and help let her be herself," Diaz told Fallon.

Cameron Diaz: “Many people get married and start a family in their youth - I do that in the second half of my life”

In an interview with Naomi Campbell, Diaz talks about how she wants to find balance in life.

She makes it clear that not all paths have to be the same.

“Many people get married and start a family in their youth.

I'm doing this in the second half of my life, so to speak." She loves that her life is finally private.

Nevertheless, she feels a certain pressure in late motherhood.

She says ironically: “I must live to be about 107 years old.

So, no pressure!”

No matter whether someone becomes a mother at an early age, decides to become a mother later or prefers a childless life: women should make their own decisions about their lives, demands a

author in her comment.

While men are held to completely different standards, society often expects women to follow a very specific pattern according to which their lives should follow.

In addition to their role as mothers at just the “right” age, they are expected to be crisis managers at home, businesswomen and more.

It is all the more important as a society to break away from these role models and recognize that everyone goes their own way - and that can often lead to happiness in life outside of the norm!
