One of the most discussed topics in the context of large language engines is the engineering of the prompts - those instructions that are given to the language model so that it produces for us the output we want.

While we all love easy solutions and pre-made templates that can be copied and pasted, the secret to successful guideline engineering lies in getting down to specific details.

To this end, HubSpot publishes the largest list of prompts to date and does not forget to include instructions for the users themselves.

The list is divided into 10 categories where large language engines can help businesses, including: marketing and sales, business administration, data analysis, ecommerce, creating content for social networks, customer service and more.

For example, here are some instructions from the business category that can be copied directly into ChatGPT:

  • "What are the top trends [in your industry] for 2024?"

  • "What are the most important metrics for measuring the success of [details about business activity]?"

  • "List 5 ways to reduce costs and increase profitability in business"

  • "How can we use social media to increase brand awareness?"

  • "How can we improve search engine optimization for our website? [URL]"

  • "How can we improve our customer service experience?"

  • "What are some ways we can increase productivity and employee engagement?"

  • "What are the three best tools for budgeting?"

  • "How can we use automation to simplify our marketing and sales tactics?"

A note about working with ChatGPT in Hebrew

There is no point in translating the full list of prompts for you, because in any case ChatGPT works best in English.

However, after reading the instructions, you can access the Abspot prompts in each of the categories, add the specific information you want to include, and translate into Hebrew only after you have reached the desired result.

You may prefer to do the last part using Google Translate and not through ChatGPT itself, which is less fluent in Hebrew.

If you don't speak English, and you still want to use Habspot's prompts, pre-translate the list of prompts, choose the prompt you want, add your own specific information, and then contact Google's Gemini - which works much better in Hebrew than ChatGPT.

After all these introductions, here are the six main guidelines of HubSpot for working with pre-made prompts:

1. Understand what your desired output is

Before diving into the list, make sure you have a good understanding of what you even want to achieve.

If, for example, you ask him to create a landing page, make sure you know what a good landing page should look like so you can be clearer from the start.

This way you can also be clear in your feedback to ChatGPT when you refine his answers.

2. Give GPT a role

Make sure the ChatGPT knows what its role is and what you are trying to create.

For example, he was told, "You are an expert in (the field of activity) and your job is to produce (what you want to create) for the following audience (description of the target audience)."

This approach provides the context and helps achieve highly expert level output.

Moreover, understanding the type of output you want will help you better describe the work you want ChatGPT to do.

3. Offer as many details as possible

The amount of information given to ChatGPT cannot be overstated.

He is indeed a smart robot, but still only a robot.

You really have to spell out what you're looking for.

Things that Habspot always recommends to consider:

  • Guidelines regarding the type of messages and tone of voice.

  • Information about your target audience or type of recipient.

  • Specific results you want to get, for example: "Give me 3 versions of a 70-character meta title that will contain the phrase X."

  • Everything you might include if you were delegating the task to a team member.

Don't be afraid to ask ChatGPT if there is any additional information it needs.

If something seems to be missing, you can always add details later or go back to the drawing board and start over.

If you're providing a lot of information and hitting enter multiple times, consider including a note at the end, "Please don't start yet. I'm releasing more information later. Please just say, 'Got it,' and I'll add the next information."

4. Explain, justify and bring recent examples from the real world

Try to think of questions that really get to the point.

Don't talk in generalities.

Instead of asking, "What marketing tactics should I consider?"

Try a more specific question, for example: "My audience (describe your audience) has responded well to messages and campaigns on (popular topic). My product (product explanation and value proposition). What related ideas can I try?"

5. Give helpful feedback

If ChatGPT gives you junk answers, don't say, "That's not it. Try again."

Give him the same feedback you would give someone on your team, for example, "The idea is good, but the tone is too formal. Try again, cut the number of words in half and keep the tone casual but professional."

You could also say something like, "That's completely missing the mark. We should focus on (your desired outcome) instead."

If the output was good, even then you should give feedback, for example: "I liked the tone, the message, etc. Let's continue."

6. Always check the facts

Because ChatGPT is designed to sound human, it knows how to write in authoritative language that sounds reasonable and logical, even when it doesn't stick to the facts.

ChatGPT is notorious for making up facts and statistics, so always check and cross-check sources with alleged "facts" it spews out.

You can ask him for a list of sources for his claims, or search for them on Google and find the links yourself.

And now that we understood how to communicate with GPT, go to the crazy list of HubSpot and get ideas for the wording of your prompts.
